Chiropractic Care Built for Hypermobile Bodies
If you're living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, you already know your care needs to be different. Ours is.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome affects the connective tissue that holds your joints, skin, and organs together. That means chronic pain, joint instability, frequent dislocations or subluxations, and a body that doesn’t respond to standard treatment the way most patients do. Many EDS patients have been told to “just live with it,” or have had care make things worse because the provider didn’t understand tissue fragility.
At Green Country Chiropractic, we take a different approach. Our care for EDS and hypermobility spectrum patients uses low-force, instrument-assisted, and gentle manual techniques designed around joint safety, not forced adjustment.
How Chiropractic Can Help
Chiropractic care isn’t a cure for EDS. It’s most useful as one part of a broader, multidisciplinary plan for managing pain and improving daily function. Within that scope, patients with EDS commonly come to us for:
- Chronic neck, back, and headache pain related to spinal instability or abnormal curvature
- Joint pain and stiffness from hypermobility and recurring subluxations
- Postural support as the body compensates for lax connective tissue
- Coordination with physical therapy and your medical team on a shared care plan
Because EDS carries real risks (tissue fragility, higher fracture risk in some patients, and vascular concerns in certain subtypes), we use low-force techniques such as instrument-assisted adjusting rather than high-velocity manipulation, and we adjust our approach based on your specific EDS type and history.
At Your First Visit
- A detailed intake covering your EDS diagnosis, subtype (if known), symptom history, and prior treatment
- A hypermobility and joint stability assessment (Beighton score or similar)
- A conservative, low-force treatment plan built around your tolerance and goals
- Ongoing communication with your rheumatologist, geneticist, or physical therapist as needed
